The Northern California Karate League consists of a small
number of dojo that have come together with a single goal in mind;
to create a friendly, safe environment where local karateka
can meet fellow students, and test their skills through
spirited competition.
All NCKL events include divisions for individual kata and
kumite competition, as well as team kata competition.
Some NCKL events may also include team kumite, weapons competition
or self-defense competition, depending on the hosting dojo.
Competitors belonging to a NCKL-affiliated dojo accumulate
league points for winning 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in
individual competition. Special awards are given to the top
ranking competitors during our yearly banquet dinner based
on the final results at the end of the league season.
The NCKL is unaffiliated with any national organizations.
We strive to provide our competitors and invited karateka
with safe, fairly judged events. All of our tournaments are
by invitation only. Tournament rules remain consistent at
each venue, therefore competitors know what to expect prior
to their competition.
This site hosts information on upcoming NCKL events,
as well as general information regarding tournaments and
seminars in Northern California. Please note that not all
events are open to the public and are invitation-only.
